The Jewett City Savings Bank Foundation has awarded grants totaling $18,500 to seven local food pantries within the Bank’s service area.
Saint Mary Food Pantry in Jewett City received a $3,000 grant and Project Pin Food Pantry in Moosup received $2,500 to assist with food purchases.
The Thompson Ecumenical Empowerment Group, Inc. (TEEG) received $2,500 to support the stand-alone food markets in Thompson, Pomfret, and Woodstock, Connecticut. TEEG was also awarded $1,000 in recognition of Jewett City Savings Bank’s former Director, David Panteleakos.
Interfaith Human Services of Putnam received $2,500 to support the Daily Bread Food Pantry and Diaper Bank of NECT. Interfaith Human Services also received an additional $1,000 in recognition of Panteleakos.
The Friends of Assisi Food Pantry in Danielson received a grant of $1,500 for diapers, wipes and pantry supplies, along with an additional $2,000 in recognition of Jewett City Savings Bank’s former Chairman, Gary Peloquin.
$1,500 was awarded to the Jonnycake Center of Westerly, which will be used to stock the shelves of the food pantry. The Preston City Congregational Church was granted $1,000 to support their food pantry.
