Michael Alberts, President of the Jewett City Savings Bank Foundation, announced the granting of $12,300 to a local library and youth services organizations.
“We are proud to support our local libraries and youth service organizations which provide young minds with the tools, knowledge, and opportunities they need,” said Alberts.
The Slater Library in Jewett City received two $1,000 grants, one for annual support and the other in recognition of the Bank’s former Vice Chairman, Gail Rooke-Norman. The library also received a grant of $1,800 for the purchase of a Demco Cover One book repair machine.
United Services, Inc. of Dayville was awarded $2,500 to fund classes on human trafficking in local schools. Two youth services organizations received grants of $2,000 a piece – Hale YMCA Youth & Family Center in Putnam to assist in funding the Race4Chase youth triathlon program and Northeast Opportunities for Wellness, Inc. in Putnam to fund the Strong Like a Girl Empowerment Group.
The Griswold Middle School PTO received $1,000 to help with finishing work to complete the installation of a new playground at the school. Also, receiving a $1,000 grant was the Girl Scouts of Connecticut, Inc., which will be used to provide financial assistance for registration fees and program support to girls in eastern Connecticut.
