The Jewett City Savings Bank Foundation announced awards totaling $15,500 to eight local arts and culture organizations during their most recent grant cycle.
“We are proud to support our local arts and culture organizations,” said Michael Alberts, President of the Jewett City Savings Bank Foundation. “These organizations provide essential connections for members within our community.”
The Putnam Veterans Advisory Committee was awarded $5,000 to assist with the purchase and installation of a Gulf War Monument in Putnam Veterans Park. The Borough of Jewett City received a $2,500 grant to replace American flags and holiday lighting fixtures on Main Street in Jewett City.
$2,000 grants were given to the Eastern Connecticut Symphony, Inc. to fund bus transportation for Griswold students attending the Young People’s Concert at the Garde Arts Center in New London and the Theatre of Northeastern Connecticut in recognition of Jewett City Savings Bank’s former Director, David Panteleakos.
Receiving $1,000 grants were the Theatre of Northeastern Connecticut in support of its Historic Revitalization Project, the Finnish American Heritage Society, Inc. to help with the funding needed to replace the roof on The Finnish Hall in Canterbury, the Griswold Historical Society in recognition of former bank Vice Chairman, Gail Rooke-Norman, and Performing Arts of Northeast Connecticut for annual support of the children’s opera program.
