In the late 1800s, depositors received a gift from Jewett City Savings Bank – a custom pack of ink blotter paper.
For those not familiar, ink blotter paper was popular before the introduction of the modern-day pen.
The thick, textured paper was designed to absorb excess ink when using fountain pens, and was an advancement as writers previously sprinkled salt over wet ink to speed up the drying.
