Jewett City Savings Bank provides several tools to help customers manage their accounts and avoid fees.

Overdraft Privilege Service
Our Overdraft Privilege Service provides a safety net in the event there are not enough funds in your checking account at the time of a withdrawal. Rather than automatically returning as unpaid all insufficient funds items, we will consider, without obligation on our part, payment of your reasonable overdrafts created by checks, ACH, or in-person (teller) withdrawals up to your available Overdraft Privilege limit.

You do not have to apply for this service, and you do not need to sign any additional documents. There is no fee to add the Overdraft Privilege Service to an account, and no fee if you never use it. If we authorize a transaction that causes your account to fall into a negative balance you will incur our normal overdraft fee of up to $25.

Recently, the Federal Reserve issued a regulation requiring banks to give customers the choice of Opting In to allow overdrafts to be paid on ATM or debit card transactions.

If you want to extend the Overdraft Privilege Service to your ATM or debit card transactions, you must Opt In by completing our opt in form and mailing it back to us, or using our online Opt In form. (Please note – you can only use the online Opt In form if you received a security ID in the mail. If you didn't receive a security ID, plase use our print and mail form).

If you opt in, your ATM or debit card will work as it currently does. If we authorize a reasonable ATM or debit card transaction that causes your account to fall into a negative balance you will incur our normal overdraft fee of up to $25.

Overdraft Transfer Service
Customers with a Jewett City Savings Bank statement savings account can arrange to have funds transferred automatically to their checking account if there are not enough funds in the checking account at the time the transaction is presented.

There is no fee to set up the overdraft transfer service on your account and no fee if you never use it. If a transfer is completed, you will be charged $5, which covers all transactions that occur in a single day.

Through our Free Online Banking Service, you can sign up to receive automatic e-mail alerts when your account dips below a certain balance. Find out more.
